Vânia Marina Cristóvão Gonçalves graduated in Genetic and Microbial Biology by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon in 2003. After one year as an FCT research fellow at the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), where she consolidated her post-graduated training, she pursued a PhD in Molecular Biology under the supervision of Dr. Peter Jordan (INSA). In September 2009 she received her PhD degree by the University of Lisbon and in January 2010 was awarded a Post-Doctoral fellowship by the FCT, under the supervision of Dr. Margarida Gama-Carvalho (Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon). Since 2015 is working as a staff Researcher in the Oncobiology and Signalling Pathways laboratory of the Human Genetics Department at INSA. Published 16 articles in international journals with an h-index of 13. Has 4 sections of books and organized 5 events. Co-supervised 1 PhD thesis, supervised 3 MSc dissertations and co-supervised 1 more. Has received 4 awards and honors and participates and/or participated in 12 projects, 1 as the Principal investigator. Works in the area of Biological Sciences with emphasis on Molecular Biology, more specifically in Cellular signal transduction pathways regulating alternative splicing in inflammation and cancer. In their professional activities interacted with 97 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific papers.
