Andrew Woolley completed his doctorate at the University of Leeds, School of Music, in 2008, from where he also graduated with a BA (2003) and MMus. (2004). At present he is an invited researcher and integrated member of the Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, as co-investigator for the project "Music paper and handwriting studies in Portugal (18th and 19th centuries): the case study of the collection of the Count of Redondo" (EXPL/ART-PER/0749/2021). He was an FCT Investigador at CESEM 2016-21 and before that was at Bangor University (Lecturer in Music, 2013-14) and the University of Edinburgh (Leverhulme Early Career Fellow, 2011-13). He is the author of 13 journal articles (12 as sole author, 1 as co-author) and 6 book chapters and has edited 7 books (multi-author collections of essays and editions of music). He has organised four international conferences as a leading or co-organiser. His research has been supported by awards from the Music & Letters Trust (2012, 2015), the American Handel Society (J. Merrill Knapp Research Fellowship Award, 2011), the University of California, Los Angeles, Center for Seventeenth and Eighteenth-Century Studies (2011), and the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (2009).
