In 2016 Alexandra finished my degree in Biology and Geology. Then, in 2018, she completed her Master's degree in Health Sciences in 2018, at the Faculty of Medicine - University of Minho. Her master thesis was mainly focused on the study of the metabolism of AML cell lines (glutaminolysis). In 2018, Alexandra Teixeira joined INL's Medical Devices research group as a Research Assistant to work on an FCT project - IMPAct-L - related to leukemia. This project consisted of combination of different technologies, like Microfluidics, NGS and SERS, for the development of a microfluidic chip for isolation and concentration of AML blasts and respective molecular analyses. In addition, during this period at INL she has been involved in several other projects in different areas, where she explored different techniques and tools. The start of 2019 was marked by an award from the COST Action PortASAP, which supported an internship to Colloid Chemistry Group (University of Vigo, Spain). Then, she received a PhD scholarship from FCT, which started in 2020. Alexandra Teixeira finished her PhD in Health Sciences (2024), supervised by Dr. Lorena Diéguez (INL), Dr. Paula Ludovico (ICVS/University of Minho) and Dr. David Posada (CINBIO/University of Vigo). Throughout her PhD, Alexandra Teixeira have acquired knowledge and experience in three major areas: microfluidics, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and molecular biology; focusing on promoting the integration of these areas to improve diagnosis in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), and more precisely of minimal residual disease (MRD). In March 2024, Alexandra joined INL as a Research Fellow in the Department of Medical Devices, where she will be part of the 3DSecret and PRR projects. Alexandra Teixeira have co-authored 15 publications in scientific journals, 1 book chapter, and have presented my work through oral communications (14) and posters (>50) at various national and international conferences.
