I am a Full Professor in Education at the Universidade Aberta in Portugal, an Invited Research Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire, and an Honorary Doctoral PhD Supervisor at the University of Liverpool. With over twenty-three years of research and teaching experience in higher education, including working at various European universities, I have developed expertise in Higher Education Pedagogy, Doctoral Supervision, and Professional Development and Learning. My research focuses on understanding how staff and students engage in learning and teaching in higher education. I investigate the efforts made by institutions, departments, and individual educators to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, and supervision in different modes of delivery - blended and hybrid learning, face-to-face and distance education. Additionally, I evaluate the impact of professional development initiatives for academics in higher education. I have experience in supervising doctoral students to completion and in leading several international projects, demonstrating my leadership abilities and commitment to collaboration. I am passionate about contributing to the advancement of teaching and learning practices in higher education institutions globally. I am a member of two research centres: Research Centre on Didactics and Technology in the Education of Trainers (CIDTFF) - (collaborator) and Distance Education and eLearning Laboratory (LE@D) - (full member).
