Susana Correia completed her PhD in Linguistics in 2010 at the University of Lisbon, School of Arts and Humanities, where she also worked as a post-doc. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA FCSH), where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Linguistics (Psycholinguistics, Phonetics and Phonology, Language Acquisition and Language Disorders, Methods in Language Teaching, Experimental Methods in Language Acquisition Research). At present, Susana Correia supervises several master and PhD projects (two of them awarded with a grant from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology). For 6 years, she has directed the Portuguese as a Foreign Language programme at NOVA FCSH and was responsible for organizing and co-organizing regular Portuguese language courses at NOVA and in partnership with other national and international organizations (Camões Institute, Emory University, Luso-American Development Foundation). She is an author and coauthor of several articles published in national and international journals (Language and Speech, First Language, Frontiers in Psychology, Written Language & Literacy, ReVEL, Revista da Associação Portuguesa de Linguística) and she collaborates with international research teams in projects related to L1 and L2 acquisition, language disorders, language teaching and learning, and literacy (Lancaster University, University of Toronto, Tübingen University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Catholic University of Louvain, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, University of Santiago de Compostela). Her research has focused on investigating how children and adults learn and use the sound structure of either a first or second language. She has also been interested in studying how language skills and linguistic competence can be assessed to improve people's life. Susana Correia leads a research project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology on L2 speech learning (ProPerL2), a partnership between NOVA University Lisbon, the University of Toronto, Lancaster University and Camões Institute, and she is the co-PI or an HORIZON EUROPE Project (iRead4Skills), in a consortium of 5 universities and 3 non-academic partners.
