Raquel P. Rocha graduated in Chemical Engineering and concluded her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering in March 2018, focused on the development of “Metal-free nanocarbon-based materials for liquid phase reactions” at FEUP. Since then, she has worked as a contracted Researcher at LSRE-LCM in developing nanostructured materials for (electro)catalytic technologies and energy storage applications. She started as researcher in national and international projects (Nanostructured catalysts based on carbon nanofibers for environmental applications, NANO/NTec-CA/0122/2007; Development of a prototype for gaseous depollution of VOCs by adsorption/catalytic oxidation - GASCLEAN SI IDT - 21616/2011; Doped Carbon Nanostructures as Metal-free Catalysts - FREECATS FP7 280658) and at the moment, she is the co-responsible on the BiCat4Energy project (PTDC/EQU-EQU/1707/2020) to develop a carbon-based noble metal-free bifunctional electrocatalyst for Unitized Regenerative Fuel Cell and, also a major team member in the CORKCap project (2022.05187.PTDC) for the development of eco-sustainable cork based electrodes energy storage in supercapacitors. Currently, she is team member of CO2-to-CH4 - Cutting-edge solar-to-heat technology to foster photo-thermocatalytic CO2 methanation towards a climate-neutral economy (project 2022.01176.PTDC, FCT funding), in the RESURGENCE - Industrial water circularity: Reuse, Resource Recovery And Energy Efficiency For Greener Digitised EU Processes (project 101138097, European Commission funding) and in accelerator program RAISE-UP. She has been moving between environmental catalysis and electrochemical devices for energy conversion and storage along those projects, resulting in accumulated collaborations with researchers from Europe, Brazil, Serbia, and some national R&I groups. More recently, an exploratory project submitted by her to the FCT was approved (2023.13478.PEX) for the production of cyclic carbonates from CO2, which is expected to start in 2025. Raquel P. Rocha co-authored 1 book chapter, 31 articles published in 14 international scientific journals with peer review, 11 journals in the Q1 quartile. Her works have been cited in over 1091 documents (Scopus, 2024/11/24), h-index is 18. In addition, she has also been acting as a referee for several high-impact journals, such as the Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, Separation and Purification Technology, and Applied Surface Science. She was one the guest editors of the special issue "Novel Heterogeneous Catalysts for Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs)" from Catalysts Journal and, currently, co-guest editor with Professor José Luís Figueiredo of the special issue “Special Issue “Carbon-Based Catalysts to Address Environmental Challenges" of the journal Catalysts”. Raquel P. Rocha is also an active science disseminator, having participated in more than 30 international and national meetings on carbon science and applications (Carbon Conference; CarboCat - Carbon for Catalysis; EuropaCat - European Congress on Catalysis; CICat - Ibero-American Congress of Catalysis; CESEP - Conference on Carbons for Energy Storage/Conversion and Environmental Protection; ISEECap - International Symposium on Enhanced Electrochemical Capacitors). Over the years, she has organized scientific meetings (10 events, 6 Abstract Books co-edition) and participated in events for science communication to the general public. More recently, she gained experience in mentoring bachelor (3 completed), master (1 completed), and PhD students (ongoing), being at the moment co-supervisor on scholarships of the ongoing projects BiCat4Energy and CORKCap. Recently, she started teaching at the Bachelor in Chemical Engineering. Raquel P. Rocha had also participated in academic juries outside her host institution. Between 23rd/Dec/2019 and 23rd/April/2020, and between 27/Mar/2022 and 27/08/2022, She interrupted research activities due to maternity leaves.
