Beatriz Lourenço Vaz is a Master in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (University of Coimbra) and is currently working as a research assistant at the Cell Reprogramming and Developmental Haematopoiesis lab at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC-UC). She is broadening her knowledge in cellular reprogramming to advance cancer immunotherapy, researching new technologies applicable to the field, and developing new ideas. Being a member of this dynamic research group allowed her to experience a 3-month stay at Lund University as a visiting researcher. This opportunity exposed her to diverse research methodologies and required her to adapt to a distinct academic environment. She developed her MSc thesis in the Structural Biotechnology lab of CNC-UC, under the supervision of Dr. Ricardo Vieira-Pires and Prof. Luís Pereira de Almeida. The main goal of her thesis was to produce and characterize novel probes based on IgY antibodies to track the progression of Machado-Joseph disease, which she accomplished. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences (University of Aveiro), with a minor in molecular biomedicine. She is interested in biotechnology applied to different fields such as immunology and oncology.
