Marcos Tenente

Marcos Tenente is an Environmental Engineer which completed, on September 2019, the master’s degree on Energy for Sustainability - Energy Systems and Energy Policies at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra with a grade of 17/20. During this master's degree he also completed his Master Dissertation, under the supervision of Prof. Patrícia Pereira da Silva and Prof. Carla Henriques, with high honors (19/20), with the title: “Eco-efficiency assessment of the electricity sector: Evidence from 28 European Union countries”. The research developed involved the use of Data Envelopment Analysis methodologies combined with Input-output tables from 28 European Union countries to assess their electricity sector's eco-efficiency. As the outcome of the dissertation, a scientific journal article was published in May 2020. More recently, he assumed a position of researcher at INESC Coimbra, under the project POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029820 - T4ENERTEC - Tools for supporting the selection of energy efficient technologies, focusing on the development of a methodological approach that combines the use of multiobjective optimization methods with hybrid input-output (IO) lifecycle analysis (LCA) models, to support Portuguese public decision-makers in choosing and evaluating energy efficiency measures that should be adopted in the residential sector. The input-output model developed uses Supply and Use matrices combined with tables of GVA, labour, emissions and waste per industry, in order to assess the total impacts caused by the changes in technologies' final demand. The multiobjective optimization model uses the total impacts assessed as objectives in order to select the optimal portfolios of energy efficiency measures to apply in the residential sector. Marcos is a person that combines very good working skills with a proactive attitude, sense of responsibility and resilience which have been acquired over years in which he has always studied and worked simultaneously. He is also sociable, respectful and eager to learn.
