Silvia C. Coelho graduated in Chemical Engineering (2008) from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP). She is an integrated member of LEPABE since 2008 and started scientific research with the development and characterization of nanoparticles as drug delivery and systems. In 2013, Silvia C. Coelho completed her PhD degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering (FEUP) in collaboration with Centro de Investigación Cooperativa en Biomateriales (Spain); i3S (Portugal); and Oslo University Hospital (Norway) for 6 months through YGGDRASIL mobility programme. As a post-doctoral researcher (from January 2014 to March 2019) she investigated the efficacy of functionalized AuNPs/biomolecules against pancreatic, colon and non-small-lung carcinoma cells. She was involved as a team member in an EU project "Nanoparticle-Enhanced molecular Fluorescence-Endoscopy for detection of early-stage colorectal adenocarcinomas" which was co-financed by Portuguese Cancer League. Her research work was the development of fluorescent AuNPs for detection of early-stage colorectal adenocarcinoma in collaboration with European partners such as Medical University Innsbruck, SINTEF, University Clinic Erlangen and CESAR. As junior researcher (from April 2019 to March 2022) Silvia C. Coelho worked in the field of microencapsulation by a electrospinning technique for food and nutraceutical applications at LEBABE (FEUP). She has high knowledge in different techniques of characterization such as ATR-FTIR, AFM, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Silvia C. Coelho published 21 publications in international scientific journals with high impact factor (16 as first author and 5 as corresponding author) and 1st quartile and 2 in proceedings in international journals with scientific citation index , 7 conference papers and has 10 participations in international conferences, 2 oral communication in international meetings and 2 more by invitation in national courses. She achieved an h-index of 11. Silvia C. Coelho was supervisor in 2 Master thesis (concluded) and co-supervisor of 4 Erasmus student, at FEUP. She is a guest editor of Pharmaceutics Journal.
