Ana Rovisco is an Assistant Researcher at CENIMAT|i3N, FCT-NOVA, where she leads scanning electron microscopy research and services. She holds a PhD in Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences (2019) and an MSc in Physics Engineering (2012) from FCT-NOVA, NOVA University Lisbon. She has been a researcher at CENIMAT since 2013 and has also been a laboratory assistant for courses related to nanofabrication and materials characterization. Her research focuses on the synthesis, nanofabrication, and characterization of sustainable oxide nanostructures for multifunctional applications, including electronics, energy harvesting, sensing, and photocatalysis. She has published 20 peer-reviewed articles, three book chapters, and two conference papers (h-index = 14, >600 citations as of April 2024 – Google Scholar), being the first author of seven and the corresponding author of another seven. She has contributed significantly to nanostructured materials and hydrothermal synthesis and has participated in over 70 national and international conferences, including seven invited oral presentations. She actively contributes to the scientific community as a member of the Topical Advisory Panel for Chemosensors (MDPI) and Electronic Materials (MDPI), where she is also an editor of a topical collection. Additionally, she is a guest editor of a special issue in Electronic Materials and has recently edited a book for IntechOpen. She has reviewed manuscripts for over 20 international journals, including ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, ACS Applied Nano Materials, and Journal of Materials Chemistry C. Since 2021 she (co)supervised 1 PhD, 8 MSc and 8 BSc students (5 ongoing). She has been involved in 19 national and international research projects, including being part of the coordination team of the ongoing European project EMERGE. She is currently the principal investigator of a PEX project funded by FCT. Her expertise includes scanning electron microscopy techniques, as well as the solution-based synthesis and applications of oxide nanostructures for flexible electronics, field-effect transistors (FETs), energy harvesting, sensing, and photocatalysis.
