Araliya Mosleh is a senior researcher of CONSTRUCT/FEUP (Portugal). She completed her BSc. in 2002 from International Imam Khomeini University (Iran), her MSc. in Civil Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) - one of the top universities in Iran - in 2009. In 2006 she became a licensed civil-structure engineer in Iran and a member of Constructing Engineering Organization. From 2006 to 2012, she had 6 years of industry experience. She was well versed in comprehensive working experience as a project manager as well as technical director and structural designer. She has significant experience in a wide range of projects, including designing and constructing buildings and bridges, repairing, restoring, and retrofitting structures in Iran. From 2009 to 2012, she also served as a Lecturer at QIAU University in Iran. In 2012 she started her Ph.D. at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. In addition to her Ph.D., she was also involved in another research project funded by FCT. Moreover, at that time, she established a connection between Aveiro University (Portugal) and the University of Bundeswehr (Germany). In April 2015, her grant was approved by Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD, German national fund), and she spent 4.5 months at Bundeswehr University (Munich) as a visiting researcher. In March 2016, Mosleh became a doctor in Civil Engineering and started to work full-time in CONSTRUCT/FEUP. Since 2016, Mosleh has participated in several national and international projects, including Peddir, Risen, In2Track2, FiberBridge, Ferrovia 4.0, Way4SafeRail and Smartwagon with the aim of developing a low-cost system to obtain weigh-in-motion and wheel/track damage identification. The importance of these subjects led her to spend 4 months at the University of Wollongong, Australia, and 8 months at EvoLeo Company in Munich as a visiting researcher to promote her knowledge and learning of emerging and novel technologies around the world as well as understanding the railway market needs. Since 2014, Mosleh is/was supervising 1 PhD student (ongoing), 16 MSc (14 completed; 2 ongoing) and 8 researchers (7 completed; 1 ongoing). She is a (co)author of several technical and scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals. In addition, she has Invited Reviewer, Guest Editor, Reviewer Board Member and Editorial Board Member of several journals. She was also an Invited Book Peer Reviewer. In 2017, Mosleh received the award for best presentation at the 2nd RISEN ECR Workshop and International Symposium on Rail Infrastructure Systems Engineering. In 2019, she was also distinguished with the top oral presentation award at the 6th International Conference on Recent Advances in Railway Engineering. In 2021, Mosleh was 5th (out of 72 applicants) in the CEEC-4th edition Junior Researcher individual call in the panel of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Systems (8.9/10). She organized 4 thematic sessions/ mini symposiums at IRAS2019, CILAMCE 2023, VBE 2023, Eccomas 2024 and EVACES 2025. She is a scientific committee of three international conferences (CILAMCE 2023, VBE 2023 and Engineering Education 2023). Furthermore, she has been invited as a workshop speaker at ICRARE 2023 conference. She has an array of research interests, including Intelligent railway and transportation technologies; Damage identification; Wayside and onboard condition monitoring; Weigh-in-motion; Wheel defect detection of rolling stocks and Bridge modeling.
