Shahab Zomorodbakhshazad earned a Bachelor degree in Applied Chemistry in 2024, at the Faculty of Chemistry of North Tehran, Islamic Azad University, Iran. In 2007, he completed his Master of Science in Organic Chemistry at the same university with final grade 16/02 out of 20. Since then, He worked actively in research projects in the fields of sustainable chemistry, organic synthesis and nanotechnology. His research works have been mainly focused on Green Chemistry , Engineering, namely on environment-friendly synthetic methods of organic compounds and functionalization of carbon nanotubes and biochar for application in drug delivery and catalyst systems. He has also worked in laboratories of several chemical and petrochemical companies as laboratory supervisor, where he acquired experience in analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as chromatography (Column and TLC) , FTIR, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry ,electron microscopy (SEM, TEM), Elemental, analysis and UV/Vis Spectroscopy, He has collaborated with various universities , research centres, both as a lecturer and researcher. As a result of these efforts, he is the author/co-author of 17 articles in ISI journals, 2 national patents, and around 10 oral and poster presentations in national and international conferences. Since 2021, Shahab Zomorodbakhshazad is a PhD student in Chemistry, branch of Catalysis and Sustainability, at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Coimbra University (FCTUC), He is a member of the Catalysis & Fine Chemistry (C&FC) Laboratory of the Medicinal Chemistry research group of Coimbra Chemistry Centre (CQC-IMS) at the Chemistry Department of FCTUC. So far, he already accomplished the curricular units of the PhD which culminated with the defence of his Ph.D. Project proposal entitled “Catalyst Development for Carbon Dioxide Activation Towards the Synthesis of Fine Chemicals” with the mark 17/20, attributed by an external jury. In 2023-2024, he has started the experimental work of his PhD project at the C&FC laboratory, focused on the development of bio-based carbon dioxide adsorbent materials and efficient processes to promote its subsequent transformation into fine chemical products (cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones) with potential bioactivity and polymers. His new and related article has accepted with title of Modified Biochar Materials from Eucalyptus globulus Wood as Efficient CO2 Adsorbents and Recyclable Catalysts in journal of Advanced Sustainable Systems (Wiley, Impact Factor = 6.7).
