Teresa M. Ribeiro-Rodrigues is a PhD candidate and the light microscopy manager in the Microscopy unit at Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra. As part of her training, Teresa participated in several courses including: Fundamentals of Widefield and Confocal Microscopy, IMARIS training course for Facility staff, Introduction to data analysis and image processing with MATLAB, Advanced Imaging Methods in Neuroscience, Microscopy data analysis and Advanced fluorescence imaging techniques. Of note, after being awarded with a research grant by FLAD (Fundação Luso-Americana), Teresa spend half year in one of the world's top laboratory in the area of microscopy and intercellular trafficking, the Kirchhausen Lab, at Harvard Medical School, where she had the opportunity to gather theoretical and technical knowledge about state of the art microscopy techniques. Her research focuses on ubiquitin dependent proteostasis and intercellular communication and has resulted in publications in reputable scientific journals, such as the Journal of Cell Science, Cardiovascular Research, FASEB Journal, PLoS Computational Biology, Trends inCell Biology and Scientific Reports. Moreover, Teresa participated, with presentation of her work, in many international congresses including the International Gap Junction Conference and ESC Congress. She is recipient of several grants which allowed her to spend various periods in external labs to deepen her scientific knowledge and technical skills, in reference groups in the area deubiquitinating enzymes and autophagy. In addition to the scientific part, Teresa actively participated in the organization of international congresses and the Electron Microscopy Technical Meeting, held in Coimbra, as well as in the training of Master's students, not only in the monitoring of practical laboratory work, but also in theoretical classes and importantly, as a scientific supervisor of 2 master's students. She has also served as reviewer for several journals such as Sci Rep, MedComm, JCellMolMed., Cells, IJMS, Immuno and Revista Portuguesa de Cardiologia.
